Terms of Use

1. Who we are and accepting these terms

Good Weed News is a brand of United States of Stoners LLC, a Connecticut limited liability company ("we," "us," "our"). By using goodweednews.com (the "Site"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you don't agree, please don't use the Site.

2. Adults only

The Site is for people 21 or older. By using it, you confirm you are at least 21. We may block access for anyone we reasonably believe is under 21.

3. Education and entertainment, not advice

Our Reels, captions, timeline, quiz and articles cover the history, science and culture of cannabis. They are for education and entertainment only and are not legal, medical, financial or professional advice. See the Disclaimer for more.

4. Our content

The Good Weed News name and wordmark, the Freida Weed character, our Reels, scripts, voiceovers, graphics and site design belong to United States of Stoners LLC and are protected by copyright and trademark law. You're welcome to watch, share our links and post our Reels from our official accounts. Please don't download, re-upload, edit or sell our content without written permission.

5. Things you send us

When you submit a quiz question through "Stump the community" or post a name to the quiz leaderboard, you confirm the content is yours to share and doesn't break anyone's rights. You give us a free, non-exclusive, worldwide license to use, edit and publish those quiz questions and leaderboard names, and anything else you explicitly send us for publication, on the Site and our channels, credited to the name or handle you provide. We may remove or refuse any submission or name at our discretion, including anything offensive, misleading or impersonating someone else.

Private messages you send through our contact or sponsorship forms or by email stay private. We use them only to reply to you and won't publish them without your permission.

6. Shop

Good Weed News merch is printed, sold, shipped and supported by Spreadshirt through our Spreadshop store. Orders, payments, delivery, returns and refunds are handled by Spreadshirt under its own terms. For order help, contact Spreadshirt at service@spreadshirt.com or 1-800-381-0815.

8. Sponsorships and partnerships

Sending a sponsorship or partnership inquiry doesn't create an agreement. Nothing is binding until both sides sign a written contract. Proposals, formats, show concepts and other materials we share during discussions remain our property and may not be used or copied without our written permission.

9. Links to other sites

We link to services we don't control, including Instagram, YouTube, Spreadshop, Stripe, Calendly and our free Field Guide app at goodweednews.app. Their own terms and privacy policies apply when you use them.

10. No warranties

The Site is provided "as is" and "as available." We work hard to get the facts right, but we don't guarantee the Site will be error-free, uninterrupted or always up to date.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, United States of Stoners LLC and its owners, contractors and partners are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from your use of the Site. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Site is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or $100.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Connecticut.

13. Copyright complaints

We respect other people's work. If you believe something on the Site infringes your copyright, email admin@goodweednews.com with: your name and contact details; the work you believe is infringed; the page or Reel where the material appears; a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized by you, your agent or the law; a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner; and your physical or electronic signature. We review every complete notice and will remove or disable material that infringes. If your material was removed and you believe that was a mistake, email us and we'll review it.

14. Changes

We may update these terms. The effective date at the top will change when we do, and continuing to use the Site means you accept the update.

Privacy Policy

The short version: we don't sell your data, we don't run ad trackers, and you can browse the whole Site without giving us anything. We only get information you choose to send us.

1. What we collect

  • Quiz leaderboard: the name or handle you type, your score and your time. These are public on the leaderboard.
  • "Stump the community" form: your question, its answer and the handle you give us.
  • Contact and sponsorship forms: your name, email, company (if you add one) and your message. Like the "Stump the community" form, each submission also carries technical details added automatically by Netlify, our host: your IP address, browser type (user agent), the page you sent it from and the time it was sent. These are used to deliver the form, block spam and keep the Site secure.
  • Monthly Challenge: the name or @handle you enter (shown publicly on the Challenge board with your score and time), your email, your answers and your timing. We keep a scrambled (hashed) copy of your email with your result so each person plays once, and the email itself in our form inbox so we can contact the winner.
  • Weekly email and law alerts: your email and, if you give it, your state, so we can send the weekly email and alerts about cannabis law changes there. Every email has a way to unsubscribe.
  • "Pick the next story" form: your suggestion and the handle you give us for credit.
  • Tips and monthly support: payments are processed by Stripe. Stripe tells us your name, email and the amount, but we never see or store your full card or bank details.
  • Basic server logs: like every website, our hosts automatically record technical data such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, for security and to keep the Site running.

We don't use analytics trackers or advertising cookies on the Site.

2. How we use it

  • To run the quiz and leaderboard and to feature community questions
  • To run the monthly Challenge, check fair play, contact and announce winners and ship prizes
  • To send the weekly email and state law alerts to people who asked for them
  • To answer your messages and sponsorship inquiries
  • To process tips and manage monthly supporters, including receipts
  • To keep the Site secure and working
  • To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we don't share it with anyone for their own marketing.

3. Services that help us run the Site

We use a small number of providers, each of which handles data under its own privacy policy. Our typefaces are hosted on our own Site, so no font requests go to Google or any other font service.

  • Netlify: hosts the Site, runs the monthly Challenge and stores its scores, and receives and stores our website form submissions, with the technical details listed above, until we delete them
  • Bunny.net: delivers our Reel videos and images
  • Supabase: stores the quiz leaderboard
  • Stripe: processes tips and monthly support payments
  • Spreadshirt / Spreadshop: runs our merch store and checkout
  • Calendly: books calls if you schedule one with us

4. How long we keep it

Leaderboard entries stay up while the leaderboard runs, unless you ask us to remove yours. Messages, inquiries and form submissions, including their technical details, are kept only as long as needed to respond and follow up. Challenge results are kept for 12 months after each Challenge closes so we can answer questions about winners. Mailing-list addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Payment records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires.

5. Your choices and rights

You can ask us to confirm whether we hold personal information about you, and to access, correct, delete or get a copy of it, including a leaderboard name. We don't sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising or profiling, so there is nothing to opt out of, but you can still ask. Depending on where you live, including Connecticut, California and other U.S. states with privacy laws, you may have additional rights, and we will honor them. We will never treat you differently for using them.

  • How to ask: email admin@goodweednews.com with "Privacy request" in the subject line and tell us what you'd like us to do.
  • Checking it's you: we may ask for a little information, such as the email address or leaderboard name you used, to confirm the request comes from you. We only use it to verify your request.
  • When we'll respond: we'll acknowledge your request and answer it within 45 days. If we need more time, we'll tell you why within those 45 days.
  • If we say no: we'll explain why in writing.
  • Appeals: if we decline all or part of your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision, or by emailing admin@goodweednews.com with "Privacy appeal" in the subject line. We'll review it and send you our written decision, with our reasons, within 60 days. If we deny your appeal, you can complain to the Connecticut Attorney General at portal.ct.gov/ag, or to the attorney general of the state where you live.

6. Adults only

The Site is not meant for anyone under 21, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under that age or from minors. If you believe a minor has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

7. Security

The Site runs over HTTPS and we use reputable providers, but no system is perfectly secure. Please don't send sensitive personal information through our forms.

8. Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date above. Significant changes will be noted on this page.

Good Weed News is independent and funded by its audience, its merch, sponsors and affiliate partnerships.

Affiliate links

Some links on the Site, such as books and products in "Go deeper" sections, are affiliate links. Each one is labeled Affiliate link right beside it, with a note that we may earn a commission. If you buy through one, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. We only recommend things we think are worth your time.

Sponsors

When a Reel, segment or section is sponsored or "presented by" a partner, we say so clearly, in the same place as the sponsored content: on screen and out loud in the Reel itself, and next to any link in the caption or description. Sponsors don't get to change our facts or our editorial calls. A sponsor's presence is not a medical or legal endorsement of its products.

Merch

We earn a share of every item sold through the Good Weed News Shop.

Tips & Supporters

Effective October 22, 2026

  • What it is: "Buy Freida a coffee" lets you support Good Weed News with a one-time tip or a monthly payment of $3, $5 or $10. Payments go to United States of Stoners LLC and are processed securely by Stripe.
  • Not a donation: Good Weed News is not a charity, so tips and monthly support are not tax-deductible.
  • What you get: our thanks and more Reels. Support doesn't buy a product, a service or any special access, unless we clearly say otherwise.
  • Before you pay: the support window shows the amount, how often you'll be charged, how to cancel and our refund policy before you go to Stripe's checkout.
  • Cancel anytime: monthly support renews automatically each month until you cancel. Use the link in your Stripe receipt email, or email admin@goodweednews.com and we'll cancel it for you before your next payment.
  • Refunds: tips are generally non-refundable, but if you paid by mistake or were charged after canceling, email us within 30 days and we'll make it right.

Monthly Challenge Official Rules

Effective October 22, 2026 · United States of Stoners LLC

The short version: free to play, one shot per person each month, 21+ in the U.S. only. Most right answers wins, fastest time breaks a tie, and the winner plays a short check round before we ship the prize.

1. Sponsor

The Good Weed News Monthly Challenge (the "Challenge") is run by United States of Stoners LLC, a Connecticut limited liability company, reachable at admin@goodweednews.com ("we"). This is a game of skill. Chance plays no part in picking the winner.

2. No purchase necessary

It's free to enter and free to play. Buying merch, tipping or anything else does not improve your chances.

3. Who can enter

You must be 21 or older and a legal resident of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia. Our owners, contractors and their immediate families and households can play for fun but can't win. Void where prohibited or restricted by law.

4. How to enter and play

Go to goodweednews.com/community.html while a Challenge is open, enter a name or @handle and your email, and agree to these rules. When you press start, the clock starts and you get ten multiple-choice questions, one at a time. Every answer appears in a Good Weed News Reel. You get one scored attempt per person per Challenge. One person may not use more than one email or name. Answers are revealed after the Challenge closes.

5. Challenge period

Each Challenge's opening and closing dates and times (U.S. Eastern) are shown on the Challenge page. The Launch Challenge runs from October 22, 2026 to November 30, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern. Later Challenges run for one calendar month unless the page says otherwise. Rounds must be finished within 30 minutes of starting.

6. How the winner is picked

When a Challenge closes, the player with the most correct answers wins. If players tie, the fastest total time, measured by our server from start to finish, wins. If they still tie, the earliest finish wins. Before we confirm a winner, the top players may be asked to complete a short check round of fresh questions at goodweednews.com/community.html#check. We may skip a player whose check round, timing or entries suggest they didn't play fairly and move to the next eligible player.

7. Prize

One winner per Challenge receives one Good Weed News t-shirt from our Spreadshop in their choice of available size and color, shipped free to a U.S. address (approximate retail value under $40), and may suggest a year or story for a future Good Weed News Reel. We decide whether and when a suggested story is produced. No cash or substitute prize, and the prize can't be transferred, except that we may substitute a prize of equal or greater value if the original isn't available. Any taxes are the winner's responsibility.

8. Winner notification and announcement

We'll email the winner within 7 days after the Challenge closes. The winner must reply with a U.S. shipping address within 14 days or we may pick the next eligible player. By accepting the prize, the winner agrees that we may announce their name or @handle and score on the Site and on our social channels, including in a Reel, without further payment, unless the law where they live says otherwise.

9. Fair play

Using bots, scripts, multiple identities, answer-sharing during an open Challenge or anything else that tampers with the Challenge will disqualify you. We may remove entries that break these rules, and our decisions on scoring and eligibility are final.

10. If something goes wrong

If a technical problem, error or fraud affects a Challenge, we may cancel, pause or change it, or pick the winner from the fair entries received before the problem. We are not responsible for lost, late or incomplete entries, network or device failures, or entries we can't read.

11. Release

By entering, you agree that United States of Stoners LLC and its owners and contractors are not liable for any loss or injury arising from the Challenge or the prize, to the extent the law allows. This Challenge is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with Instagram, Meta or YouTube, and by entering you release them from any responsibility.

12. Your information

We use your email only to run the Challenge and contact you if you win, plus our weekly email if you choose to receive it. See the Privacy Policy.

13. Winner's list and law

To ask who won a Challenge, email admin@goodweednews.com within 60 days after it closes. These rules are governed by Connecticut law.

Cookie Policy

Effective October 22, 2026

Our own Site sets no tracking or advertising cookies.

When you confirm you're 21 or older, your browser remembers that for 30 days, in its own local storage on your device, so you aren't asked on every visit. If you post a quiz score, your browser also remembers the name you used, in its own local storage on your device, so you don't have to type it again. It never leaves your device unless you post another score, and you can clear it anytime in your browser settings.

We don't embed Instagram, YouTube or other third-party players on the Site. Our Reels play from our own video host, Bunny.net, which sets no cookies. Services we link to, such as Spreadshop, Stripe, Calendly, Instagram and YouTube, may set their own cookies when you visit them. Those cookies are covered by their own policies. Our free Field Guide app at goodweednews.app may use browser storage so it works offline, but it collects no personal information.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

Statements about the health or wellness effects of cannabis, cannabinoids, terpenes or related compounds have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. Nothing on this Site is meant to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. Talk to a qualified healthcare provider before making health decisions.

The law

Cannabis is still illegal under U.S. federal law, and state and local laws vary widely and change often. We don't encourage or help anyone break the law. You're responsible for knowing and following the laws where you live. Our free Field Guide at goodweednews.app is a starting point, not legal advice.

History and accuracy

We check our stories against primary sources wherever we can, but history is messy, sources disagree and new facts surface. If you spot an error, tell us at admin@goodweednews.com and we'll look at it.

AI host

Freida Weed, our host, is an AI-generated character. Her voice and likeness are created with AI tools. The stories she tells are researched by people.

Age Requirement

Good Weed News covers a substance that is legal only for adults 21 and over in U.S. states that allow it. The Site is intended for people 21 and older, and every visitor is asked to confirm their age before entering. Our live shows are also 21 and over. If you're a parent or guardian, parental-control tools on shared devices can help keep cannabis content away from minors, and the Family Online Safety Institute (fosi.org) has helpful guidance.
